Getting Through The DUI Maze

The Education of a California Drunk Driving Attorney

A California drunk driving attorney is a professional able to interpret the laws associated with DUI offenses. A California drunk driving attorney has had an extensive education to help prepare for a long career as a California drunk driving attorney.

Before a student can enter a law program to train to become a California drunk driving attorney, he or she must first complete an undergraduate degree, usually a bachelor's degree in a related field such as Humanities or Social Sciences. Once students have earned their undergraduate degree, they will be one-step closer to becoming a California drunk driving attorney. Students will then apply for acceptance into a School of Law; in the United States, Law School is considered to be a professional, post-graduate degree program.

At Law School, students acquire academic theoretical training in the legal system, in preparation for a professional career, such as one as a California drunk driving attorney. There are several different Law degrees that can be earned and include the Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.S.D.), Doctor of Judicial Science (S.J.D.), and Doctor of Comparative Law (D.C.L). After the student has obtained an advanced degree, he or she must pass a state bar examination before he or she can earn a license and become a practicing California drunk driving attorney.

Many Schools of Law will also require that the students complete a certain amount of pro bono work before they can earn their diplomas. This will give students the chance to apply the knowledge that they learned in the classroom to real cases.

All California drunk driving attorneys have gone through this extensive training. Many California drunk driving attorneys have also worked under experienced California DUI attorneys before attempting to handle DUI cases on their own. Some California drunk driving attorneys will move on to new careers like teaching at a Law School.
